I was misinformed about my service cancelation when I spoke with agent Kelly M over chat through my vivint app. I was told to send an email and the sevice would be canceled within 30 days. I did as I was instructed and sent the email and call to follw up where I was them and was informed I needed to pay a $1000 to cancel by customer service. I ask for customer loyalty and William told me I owe over $1500 to cancel cause I had to buy out this ridiculous 5 year contract at over 60 a month, which I had only paid 3 years of, at the amount of over $2100. I feel this should be canceled in 30 days as I was told would happen with the first agent I spoke with through my app chat. The supervisor over customer loyalty said I could pay $800 and be good. As a company they are way more expensive than any other monitoring service that can do exactly what they have done. I will never recommend or use vivint again for home monitoring. I have paid faithfully every month for 3 years and I got a wall monitor and a doorbell camera and a few window sensors, they used most of the old sensors that were in my home at install. I have paid over 60 a month for 3 years over $2100 and somehow figure I still owe $1500 more to buy out you my contract. This company is ripping people off with that service and cost.

This company is ripping people off with that service and cost. I will also be making a formal complaint to the BBB about this. I have the messages the agent sent me saying I needed to send and email and call to confirm and my account would be canceled with in 30 days, not one time mentioning me owing any amount or having to buy out any contract. Night vision footage is clear and motion detection sensitivity can be adjusted in the app. Motion detection is based on heat signature so the camera can discern the difference between, say, a spinning fan, a small dog, and an actual moving person who's breaking in to your home. Recently added, Alexa voice control lets you arm your system or check on its status on Amazon Echo devices. Enabling the SimpliSafe Home Control skill in the Alexa app is simple, and commands like "Alexa, tell SimpliSafe I'm leaving" to arm the system in Away mode, "Alexa, tell SimpliSafe good night" to arm the system in Home mode, and "Alexa, ask SimpliSafe if my home is secure" to get system status worked well in testing. There was little lag between the voice command and the base station announcing status or changes in system modes. The Alexa integration only works with the new SimpliSafe hardware, and the system can't be disarmed via voice for obvious reasons. With the monthly Interactive Plan, you can use SimpliSafe's Online Dashboard or mobile app to control the system, including arming and disarming it. The Dashboard also lets you view your System Event Log, change your PIN, assign up to four guest PINs, and choose an optional Duress PIN, to use when an intruder is coercing you to disable the alarm. Enter it, and the alarm will stop sounding, but SimpliSafe will immediately send the police. You can also tweak settings like siren volume, entry and exit delay time, and manage and rename sensors in the Dashboard. But now, with the new system, most of these controls are accessible on the keypad too, which is nice.
